LEH Partners with New Orleans Film Society, Create Louisiana for $50K Filmmakers Grant

On May 20, the LEH joined with the New Orleans Film Society and Create Louisiana to announce a new partnership to support the indigenous film community. The 2016 Create Louisiana Filmmakers Grant offers a $50,000 grant for a local filmmaking team and provides a unique opportunity to develop their careers through the funding of a short film, which will screen at the 2016 New Orleans Film Festival.

Led by Scott Niemeyer, founder of Deep South Studios, and Sian McArthur, Create Louisiana is an ongoing effort to support and develop the creative industries of Louisiana and showcase their cultural, economic and social contributions to the state. The announcement of the new grant was made at the Made in Louisiana event in Baton Rouge, where over 40 legislators and 400 guests from the Louisiana entertainment industry and community were present.

The grant recipient team will receive a $50,000 grant for a short film project. The film is to be completed within 12 months of receiving the award, with the finished project set to screen at the 2016 New Orleans Film Festival. Applications will open in August 2015 and can be found at www.createlouisiana.com.
