LCV Fall 2016 Issue is Here!

As Louisiana recovers from the August 2016 flooding, we’re reminded of the importance of preserving our culture through the work of great writers and artists. The fall 2016 issue of Louisiana Cultural Vistas explores the state’s bayous, lakes, rivers, and coastline, places where water alternately sustains and threatens our way of life. This week at KnowLouisiana.org, we debut new content from the issue:

  • special section on the people and technologies that power Louisiana’s seafood industry, produced in partnership with Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.
  • C.E. Richard on the fundamental questions of cognitive science as seen in the work of Cajun boatbuilder Edward Couvillier.
  • In the latest installment in our 2016 Pulitzer Prize Centennial Campfires Initiative, Nathaniel Rich revisits Robert Penn Warren‘s 1956 collection of interviews from the segregated South.
  • Kara Tucina Olidge on Stanley Nelson’s Devil’s WalkingBen Sandmel on Allen Toussaint’s final album, and Richard Campanella on the history of the New Orleans oyster trade.

Stories from our partners at the Historic New Orleans CollectionLouisiana State Museum, and New Orleans Museum of Art, and John Barry’s review of Simon Gunning’s upcoming exhibit at the Ogden Museum of Art.
