Gustave Blache III Art Scholarships for Aspiring African American Artists from Louisiana

The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and the School of VISUAL ARTS in New York City are proud to announce the Gustave Blache III Art Scholarship for Aspiring African American Artists. Blache, an accomplished artist from Louisiana who is an alumnus of SVA, knows firsthand the power of an SVA education. Blache, SVA, and the LEH want other African American Artists to have the same education at one of the nation’s premiere schools.

Who May Apply: Aspiring African American Artists from Louisiana who are either high school seniors (undergraduate award) or those seeking to begin work on their MFA (graduate award).

Scholarship Prize: Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration Scholarship Award of $25,000/Annually for four years

Master of Fine Arts in Illustration Scholarship Award of $25,000/Annually for two years.

The $25,000 a year Scholarship Award represents $20,000 towards a tuition of $40,000 and $5,000 towards school-run, dorm housing.

The student will need to upload a portfolio of your work – a minimum of 10 pieces and a maximum of 15 pieces. Application and uploading instructions can be found in the help files on the right hand sidebar.

Of special note, the awarding of Gustave Blache III Art Scholarship is dependent upon the successful application and acceptance into SVA. This scholarship may not be used at any other school.
