Reserve Your Tickets! Bright Lights in the Humanities Awards April 13

In partnership with Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, and presented by Entergy Louisiana, the LEH Annual Bright Lights in the Humanities Awards will take place at Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge on April 13. Author and illustrator William Joyce, founder of Moonbot Studios in Shreveport, is the 2017 Humanist of the Year, one of the awards that recognize the individuals and organizations making invaluable contributions to the culture of Louisiana.

Other 2017 awardees include Dr. William Adams, Champion of Culture; Dr. Shane Bernard and Dr. Christopher Cenac, Humanities Books; David Hylan and Raydra Hall, Documentary Film; Eric Waters, Michael P. Smith Memorial Award for Documentary Photography; Dr. Susan Tucker, Lifetime Contribution; Dr. Richard Louth, Light Up for Literacy; and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Carolyn W. and Charles T. Beaird Family Foundation, Chair’s Institutional Awards.

This increasingly popular event brings together culture leaders from nonprofit, corporate, and government sectors, and is rapidly becoming recognized as one of the state’s most original and creative awards events-last year’s ceremony was sold out. Tickets are available to the public, and the festivities include a silent auction with Louisiana-themed items and experiences; entertainment; awards ceremony; and three-course dinner with cocktails. Table and event sponsorships are available for a limited time.
