This month, the LEH welcomed Hali Dardar to the team as a Program Assistant to Prime Time Family Reading Time, Inc. Her role will be to gather and retain records for Prime Time Programs, as well as to support staff in site monitoring and provide expertise in digital media. She comes to us from the tech field, combined with a passion for history, rooted in Louisiana humanities. Before joining the LEH, Hali worked as a data analyst for LANetworx, and as a Research Assistant at the Louisiana Center for Computation and Technology. She holds a B.A. in Print Journalism from Louisiana State University, and later earned an M.A. in Arts, Culture, and Media at Rijksuniversiteit, Netherlands.

Hali loves learning languages, and is passionate about preserving the cultures of South Louisiana. In 2013, she began the Houma Language Project – a community initiative to reconstruct the Houma Native American language for cultural preservation. In 2014, she began working on OLA!, an informal curriculum for groups seeking to preserve language through community use. She enjoys folding origami, lap swimming, and playing Pedro in her free time. Contact her at [email protected].
