Are you interested in becoming a PRIME TIME Team Member?

PRIME TIME Family Reading Time and PRIME TIME Preschool family reading programs provide unique reading, storytelling, and discussion-based educational experiences at public schools, libraries, community-based facilities and other venues.

Based on an award-winning methodology, these programs emphasize literary discussion designed to promote at-home reading, enhance reading comprehension skills, and build critical thinking abilities among children ranging from 3 to 10 years old and their families.

PRIME TIME programs are conducted during 2 annual terms (Spring/Summer—January-June and Fall—July-December).   Approximately 25-30 PRIME TIME Family Reading Time programs and 10-15 PRIME TIME Preschool programs are implemented throughout Louisiana during each term.

PRIME TIME family reading programs train storytellers, scholars, and preschool facilitators to model read-aloud and book discussion techniques as well as the exploration of humanities themes via story discussion and play (for preschoolers) with participating families.  Storytellers, scholars, and preschool facilitators are offered temporary contracts for 6-session programs which take place once weekly for 90 minutes.

Interested and qualified individuals should complete this form and prepare to submit a curriculum vitae (scholars) or appropriate work history (storytellers and preschool facilitators) for consideration. After all documentation is received, a PRIME TIME staff person will notify applicants of their eligibility within 4 weeks. If accepted, an invitation to attend a PRIME TIME Training workshop (mid-January or mid-July) will be extended once the prospective team member accepts a temporary contract offer.

Trained team members are placed on PRIME TIME’s list of storytellers, scholars, and preschool facilitators.  Trained team members are offered temporary contract opportunities based on a number of factors, and are never guaranteed future contract offers.  Offers for temporary contract opportunities are made by the PRIME TIME staff only.
