The Louisiana Association of Museums (LAM) has awarded the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities the 2006 Outstanding Foundation Support Award. The award was presented at the LAM Conference in Baton Rouge on September 18th.

"In past years, LEH has supported the work of LAM by presenting informative grant and program workshops at LAM’s annual conferences. LEH’s grant staff is committed to working with museums large and small to ensure that grant monies go where they can best be used. LEH’s stewardship of the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program has brought quality traveling exhibits to numerous Louisiana museums. These same museums receive professional training and assistance from LAM through its workshops, environmental monitoring, equipment loans, and networking opportunities. This year, the LEH will be assisting LAM monetarily through a $15,000 support grant. It will further assist LAM fulfill its mission by orchestrating a collaboration between LEH, LAM, and the Getty Institute whereby LAM will coordinate Getty volunteers traveling through Louisiana assisting hurricane damaged museums." said the LAM council.
