Miranda Restovic has joined the PRIME TIME
team
and will be working with Shantrell Adams, Dianne
Brady, and Faye Flanagan as the program continues
to experience phenomenal growth.
These PRIME TIME staff members were very active during the Annual Conference of the American Library Association held in New Orleans June 22-28. On Friday, June 23 over 40 PRIME TIME “veterans” attending the conference enjoyed a wine and cheese reception held at the Louisiana Humanities Center where the newest titles included in the bilingual syllabi were displayed. On Saturday, June 24, PRIME TIME participated in the Diversity Fair on the Exhibit Hall floor. Finally, on Sunday, June 25, panelists from NEH and ALA joined librarians from Florida, New Mexico, and Louisiana to present a program outlining the national expansion of the award-winning family literacy model. The PRIME TIME summer workshop is scheduled for August 4-5 in New Orleans at Le Pavillon Hotel. We are looking forward to participants from Louisiana joining attendees from Ohio, Georgia and South Dakota. | ||||||

The LEH board of directors approved a $15,000 grant
for the Louisiana Association of Museums (LAM). LAM,
a statewide professional and museum
development services provider, the only one of its
kind in Louisiana,
has lost its appropriation in the current
administration’s budget and now has an operating
budget that barely provides for a part-time executive
director. While $15,000 cannot meet all of LAM’s
needs, it will almost double its budget and enable the
organization to maintain critical services and seek
alternative sources of
support.
